Freelance photographer Simon Hoegsberg's most recent project, "We're All Gonna Die - 100 meters of existence ," is the culmination of a considerable undertaking. The complete image is, in fact, 100 meters long and "[t]here are 178 people in the picture, all shot in the course of 20 days from the same spot on a railroad bridge on Warschauer Strasse in Berlin in the summer 2007."

The Web site featuring the image uses a slider along the bottom to take you across the seamless panorama of sorts. Young and old, men and women, angsty teens and trendy moms. Smokers, friends laughing and musicians. A man eating a popsicle, a woman pushing a stroller. The message could be one of community, but together the people emphasize their separateness, their singular existence. "We're All Gonna Die" is, I think, meant to take a snap of those people, anticipating and acknowledging fleeting life. To me, it is a lonely image.

The 2001 School of Media in London graduate now works in Copenhagen and has an interesting arrangement of projects on his personal Web site , including several magazine features and radio bits as well.
